What have we been up to lately?
Well...
Every day I have tasks on my list of things that MUST be done. And every day at the end of the day, those SAME TASKS are on my list...still. What does that mean? I didn't get to ANY of them.
What is getting done? My belly is getting grown, my boy is getting bigger, our mouths are fed (barely), and our hearts are still beating.
How is this?! How is it that 5 pm rolls around and I still don't feel like I've started my day?
Here's one thing:
I have been doing Mom and Tot swim lessons with Trent. SO FUN! Twice a
week we go to an indoor pool and practice blowing bubbles, holding on to the
side wall of the pool, jumping off the side into mommy's arms, scooping our
arms, kicking our feet, floating on our back, and we even have an exercise
where I put Trent under the water and teach him to hold his breath. He is up
to 4 seconds holding his breath! He must be part dolphin like my dad.
We did go to the dentist. No cavities! No cavities = we get to order pizza for dinner = mom doesn't have to do dishes = Yay! Papa John's vegetarian pizza. Yum.
Trent has eight teeth including two molars. Woah. That's another thing that's getting done.
Trent has had a runny nose for eight weeks...seriously. Now that he's walking, he has learned to take LONGER and FASTER steps AWAY from me when he sees me with a kleenex in my hand. No more mom!
Needless to say, I am feeling excessively behind, and excessively more pressure to get things done NOW before BABY GIRL enters the scene...in FOUR MONTHS or less. (Because after that, all you moms know not a THING will get done for what seems like forever.)
Things on the list:
1. Unpack and sort my childhood boxes that dad insisted I must go through before I store them at his house again (a reasonable request, but am I happy my Barbies from the 1980's are sitting in our office/baby play room? not so much)
2. Could I finally get the budget for last month done? Finally!
3. Why does my cell phone calender/life brain hate me? Get that beast figured out, again.
4. Refinance. Figure out all this new Obama stuff. Daunting and deceiving to even think about sorting that out.
5. Catch up on my email inbox. That's never gonna be under control until the kids move out. I've given up.
6. Post all those pics I've been meaning to post.
All of this, while I try to keep up with daily life.
In the meantime,
- I'll keep trying to learn Trent's dolphin language/morse code so that we can communicate better.
- We'll keep singing together.
- I'll keep playing catch with him.
- I'll keep trying to keep my yoga pose as he unfailingly endeavors to knock me over.
- I'll keep trying to sweep up the crumbs from Trent's meals BEFORE he gets back in the kitchen to finish his meal from off the floor.
- I'll keep trying to get a shower daily now while I can (before baby #2).
- And I'll keep trying to say my "morning" prayers before 4 pm.
I know I've written a post like this before, and I had a moral to the story:
The best "something done" is taking care of my boy.
And it's true.
.........
In tribute to my endeavor to get a task done, which I now recommit myself to in STONE on my BLOG, indulge me as I post some photos that I've been meaning to post. (Reference daunting and never-accomplished task #6 above.)
Here are some pics of Trent and I with Cindy and JJ at Hee Haw Farms. Yes, it was last October...thus titled a daunting and un-accomplished task. But I must document for my own sake, and for that of the Grandparents.
The picture at the top of the post is my favorite. We used it for Trent's Valentine's cards this year.

Trent's first pony ride... (aren't those blue skies amazing?)

I love these two photos below, especially what Trent is doing in the second, diving in to taste the sign.

Trent was so sad..."Mommy, what happened to my nap?"...and then we went home.
